You may be unhappy with crooked teeth, but have been reluctant to straighten them because you didn’t like the thought of the metal wires and brackets. Now Invisalign® allows you to straighten your teeth invisibly. Unlike traditional braces that can be both painful and unsightly, Invisalign uses clear, soft plastic aligner trays to gently and comfortably straighten your smile.
Tarrytown cosmetic dentist Dr. Wanda Mejia or Dr. George Sepiashvili may recommend Invisalign as a stand-alone treatment for crooked teeth or as just one component of your complete smile makeover. This is best determined during your one-one-one consultation at our comfortable office. To schedule your consultation, please call
Many of our Tarrytown patients find Invisalign preferable to traditional braces for aesthetic reasons. However, the invisibility of these aligners is far from their only benefit. Because they can be removed, the trays offer many benefits including:
- Removable for special occasions
- No dietary restrictions
- No interference with dental hygiene
In addition, soft plastic aligners are much more comfortable than hard metal braces and will not cut or irritate sensitive oral tissue. Many people also find switching aligners to further treatment less invasive than the manual adjustments required for wire and bracket braces. However, most people experience slight discomfort with Invisalign. It’s usually worse when you first switch aligners. Typically, you can control discomfort with over-the-counter pain medicine.
Invisalign offers a more aesthetically pleasing, faster, and often more comfortable treatment for mild to moderate malocclusion. During your initial consultation Dr. Mejia can help you determine if this treatment option is the best for your smile.
How Invisalign Works
Your treatment will begin with a thorough examination of your teeth and gums. If your cosmetic dentist determines Invisalign is the best solution for your smile, she will use state-of-the-art software to determine your level of malocclusion and the exact movement needed to correct your bite. This information is sent to Invisalign for the creation of your aligners.
These aligners are progressive. This means that each aligner is designed to gently move your teeth closer to their optimal position. You will return to our office every few weeks to allow Dr. Mejia to check your progress and, if you are ready, provide you with your next set of aligners. When worn as instructed, Invisalign can produce results in as few as 12 months. Or if you have just minor cosmetic issues to correct, you may qualify for Invisalign Express, which can work in just 10 weeks. During your consultation, Dr. Mejia will determine which treatment is best for you.
