Losing your teeth doesn’t have to mean losing your smile. If you are facing the loss of your teeth, or if you’ve recently lost your teeth, you can get all your teeth replaced in a single day through implant dentures. The procedure is relatively quick, and it’s inexpensive compared to other dental implant solutions. The results are exceptional, though, and very long-lasting. You could have the best smile of your life.
If you are looking for a denture solution in Tarrytown that doesn’t mean having dentures that slip all over your mouth, All-on-4® implant dentures may be right for you. Please call (914) 332-4402 or email us today for an appointment with a Tarrytown implant dentist at Advanced Dentistry of Tarrytown.
Why Choose All-on-4® Implant Dentures
All-on-4® implant dentures are a precisely designed approach to replace all of the teeth in a single arch (such as all your upper teeth or all your lower teeth) using just four dental implants. This has many benefits for you, including:
- Won’t slip or move like traditional dentures
- Look great and function like natural teeth
- Can be removable or permanently fixed
- Just one procedure for an entirely new smile
- You can usually avoid bone grafts
- Reduced cost
- An innovative system from the inventors of dental implants
- High long-term survival rate
All-on-4® implant dentures are a great choice for people who currently have dentures but are tired of their looseness and poor function. You can get replacement dentures that are completely secure in your mouth—they won’t slip or slide, even if you’re talking loud or laughing hard. It will be like having your natural teeth again.
But All-on-4® is also a great choice for people getting their first set of dentures. It’s a faster procedure than the alternative, less expensive than most other treatments, and gives great-looking results: natural and attractive.
The reduced cost comes from the exceptional engineering and smart approach to restoration: you’re still getting quality implants and quality restorations. The All-on-4® system was developed by Nobel Biocare, the company that worked with the original innovator of dental implants, Per-Ingvar Brånemark, working from the experience of people with over 40 years of successful restorations using four, five, or six dental implants. They studied the best placements for dental implants that could be secure in adequate bone and support dental restorations.
As a result of their thorough approach to design, All-on-4® implant dentures have shown survival rates of 96-100% after 3-4 years and 95-98% after 5-10 years.
How All-on-4® Works
How can you use just four dental implants to do the work of the 14-16 teeth? There are two secrets. First, the strength of the materials. Dental implants are made of titanium, which means that individually they’re stronger than your natural tooth roots and capable of supporting more force. The bridge itself is made of some of the most advanced zirconia ceramics with a solid titanium substructure.
Second, it’s the placement of the dental implants that allows for restoration of the entire arch with just four dental implants. Years of study have shown the places where your body is most likely to retain bone, even if you lose your teeth or have gum disease. Two of the implants are placed in the front of the mouth, and two of them in the rear. These rear implants will have to bear most of the bite force, so they’re angled to give them maximum support in your bone.
Because of this precise placement and superb design, we can usually avoid the use of bone grafts.
Implants can be placed all on the same day, even the day you had your last teeth extracted. The denture you receive at the time your implants are placed is a temporary. It looks attractive, but is designed to foster healing. After your implants have fully integrated with the bone, you will be fitted with your permanent denture, which may be removable or permanently fixed, depending on your preferences and what is best for your oral health.
Limitations of All-on-4 ®
Although the All-on-4 ® system is engineered to work for most people who need implant dentures, it’s not for everyone. We won’t be able to tell you if it’s right for you until we perform a comprehensive exam.
A commitment to care and maintenance is essential to ensuring the long life of your All-on-4® implants and restorations. Good oral hygiene and regular checkups go a long way.
Finally, we have to admit that although the All-on-4® system has shown good performance in the current clinical trials, we only have 15 years of experience with it, compared to the 50 years of traditional dental implants. There is no data to predict survival of All-on-4® restorations at 20 years or more.
