What Is Family Dentistry
Family dentistry is the extension of general dentistry that focuses on meeting the diverse needs of people at different stages of oral development. We are pleased to offer dental services tailored to the specific needs of each member of your family as part of the comprehensive dental care offered at Advanced Dentistry of Tarrytown.
While the services offered by a family dentist and general dentist are similar, the level of service is different. As family dentists, Dr. Wanda and Dr. George are able to serve every member of you family, from toddlers to the elderly. This allows us to build a relationship with your family and meet your needs as each member progresses.
We offer extended office hours on evenings and weekends, enabling us to work around the hectic schedule of modern families. When possible, we can even schedule multiple members of your family at once, further increasing your convenience and meeting your family’s particular needs.
Dentistry for the Whole Family
Tarrytown family dentist Dr. Wanda Mejia is able to begin seeing children as young as four years old. Services offered to younger children may include dental hygiene appointments for cleanings and examinations as well as fluoride treatments and education on proper at-home oral hygiene routines. As your children age, we will adapt our services to meet their particular needs, which may include the correction of malocclusion with Invisalign® or the treatment of cavities, tooth infections, and gum disease.
These same services are available to adult members of your family, but we also offer a full range of cosmetic dentistry services to perfect adult smiles.
We even offer New You Dentures™ and dental implants to help members of your family at any age who have lost teeth.
It is our goal to meet the needs of young and old alike. Dr. Mejia works with each patient as an individual, but also with entire families as a unit to help ensure each member of your family maintains the healthy and beautiful smile they deserve.
Benefits of Family Dentistry
Family dentistry can be better for your oral health. The family that eats together stays together, but it also develops cavities together. When we treat your whole family, we can see how this affects you. That lets us make recommendations about diet changes or other lifestyle changes that can benefit everyone’s oral health.
We can also look out for genetic risks in your family. Gum disease relates to how your body responds to oral bacteria. This is partly controlled by your genes. So if parents have gum disease, we know to watch for it in children. The same is true for bite problems like TMJ.
